<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It does if you don't prime what you are painting and it couldn't hurt to seal it after you are done.

    Question

so, what other materials need to be added after you put on the acryllic paint?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Just a clearcoat sealant. You can get gloss of flat. There aren alot of brands on the market. I just use Testors Dullcoat.

Depends what kind of acrylics you use.

If you use cheap shit, you might end up with results you're not happy with. For the last 10 years or so, I've stuck with Pactra, Citadel, and Model Masters ACRYL-- stuff specifically made for modelling, and I've yet to have trouble (knock on wood). To keep the cost of paint down, I buy the primary colors (red, blue, yellow), which you can mix to make all the colors of the rainbow. I also buy black and white.

Washing your pieces with soap and warm water and allowing them to completely dry before priming also helps, because it washes off any oils or agents used to get the figure out of its mold.

From there, prime the pieces... it'll result in a better, more durable paint job. I like Krylon's primers. They're good, relatively inexpensive, and you can find them at places like Wal-Mart (during a toy run, natch).

I don't seal my figures. Instead, I like to make re-sealable custom packaging for display. It really completes the effect and is just cool to make.

I just apply acryllic onto the figure without anything extra.

    Hasn't failed me yet.

Testors dullcote is definitely the best way to seal a figure without making it look glossy.
